Bring Margarita home again

Dear Friends and Community,

Give thanks for the health and safety of your family and friends every day. Tell them you love them. When our mother woke up on May 8th, 2023, she thanked God for another day on earth with her loved ones, near and far. Then she was taken away from us by an act of selfish, senseless violence that we will never forget. It has left her family and friends in shock, grief and unimaginable pain.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the devastating news of the passing of Margarita Martinez Morehead.

The shocking death of Margarita Martinez Morehead robbed a tight-knit family in Massachusetts and the Dominican Republic of a beloved daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, and valued member of the Greater Boston community. Her killer wanted her kind, loving spirit to be extinguished and forgotten. We can’t let that happen. It is up to all of us to celebrate her life and make sure she comes home to the D.R. to be reunited with the rest of her family and friends.

Margarita was a beacon of light in her community and a pillar of strength for her large family. She was known for her generosity and consistent contributions to her relatives in the Caribbean nation of the Dominican Republic. She was the sole provider for her elderly 91-year-old mother who lives overseas in the Dominican Republic, along with numerous young nieces and nephews, funding their education and schooling. She always put others before herself, and her kindness and love knew no bounds. Our mother worked extremely hard every day to support our family and she sacrificed trips to her cherished home country to make sure her family never went without. As adults with our own families, it’s our turn to take care of her. Help us fund the trip to the U.S. for our family members, and the return trip for all of us to safely carry her home for the last time.

All of us have lost someone important to us, and no one can truly understand what we’re going through quite like family can. Please help us gather the whole family together across the countries so we can take care of each other.

The proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to covering the costs of Margarita's memorial services here in the States and transportation for burial in La Romana, Dominican Republic where she will be laid to rest next to her father, brother, nephew, and other relatives who have gone before her.

Donate what you can afford in her memory, or in memory of your own family members. Margarita loved her family and her community more than anything. It’s time to show our love and appreciation back to her.

Queridos amigos y comunidad,

Agradezcan la salud y la seguridad de sus seres queridos todos los días. Díganles que los aman. Cuando nuestra madre se despertó el 8 de mayo de 2023, agradeció a Dios por otro día en la tierra con sus seres queridos, cerca y lejos. Luego, un acto de violencia egoísta y sin sentido la alejó de nosotros. Nunca lo olvidaremos. Ha dejado a su familia y amigos en estado de shock, dolor y sufrimiento no imaginable.

Es con un corazón pesado que compartimos la devastadora noticia del fallecimiento de Margarita Martinez Morehead.

La impactante muerte de Margarita Martinez Morehead ha arrebatado a una familia unida en Massachusetts y la República Dominicana de una querida madre, hermana, abuela y miembro valioso de la comunidad de Greater Boston. Su asesino quería que su espíritu amable y amoroso fuera extinguido y olvidado. No podemos permitir que eso suceda. Depende de todos nosotros celebrar su vida y asegurarnos de que regrese a casa en la República Dominicana para reunirse con el resto de su familia y amigos.

Margarita fue un faro de luz en su comunidad y un pilar de fuerza para su gran familia. Era conocida por su generosidad y sus constantes contribuciones a sus familiares en la nación caribeña de la República Dominicana. Era la única proveedora para su anciana madre de 91 años que vive en el extranjero en la República Dominicana, junto con numerosos sobrinos y sobrinas jóvenes, financiando su educación y escolarización. Siempre ponía a los demás antes que a ella misma, y su amabilidad y amor no conocían límites. Nuestra madre trabajó extremadamente duro todos los días para mantener a nuestra familia y sacrificó viajes a su amado país natal para asegurarse de que nunca le faltara nada a su familia. Como adultos con nuestras propias familias, es nuestro turno de cuidarla. Ayúdenos a financiar el viaje a los Estados Unidos para nuestros familiares, y el viaje de regreso para llevarla a casa de manera segura por última vez.

Todos hemos perdido a alguien importante para nosotros, y nadie puede entender realmente lo que estamos pasando como nuestra familia. Por favor, ayúdenos a reunir a toda la familia a través de los países para que podamos cuidarnos mutuamente.

Los fondos recaudados en esta campaña se destinarán directamente a cubrir los costos de los servicios conmemorativos de Margarita y el transporte para su entierro en La Romana, Republica Dominicana donde descansará junto a su padre, hermano, sobrino y otros parientes que la precedieron.

Done lo que pueda en su memoria, o en memoria de sus propios familiares. Margarita amaba a su familia y a su comunidad más que nada en el mundo. Es hora de mostrarle nuestro amor y agradecimiento.
