Help Indigenous Female Athletes Travel to Camp
Tax deductible
Hi, My name is Ryneldi Becenti and ever since I became the first Native American woman to play in the WNBA, I've wanted to inspire other Indigenous girls to make their dreams come true. I'm so excited to be coming to Cape Cod in April to be part of the week-long GLAM Camp on the Mashpee Wampanoag Reservation. It's a free camp for girls in Grades 5 to 8 that's being held by GLAM Girl (the Global Local Athletic Movement - www.glamgirl.life) in partnership with the Wampanoag Tribe. I'm from the Navajo Nation in New Mexico and would love to invite three female athletes from my community to participate in the camp. We need your help to pay for their airfare from Albuquerque to Boston. An opportunity like this has never been possible for our girls and I hope you'll help us make this dream come true.
Longer term, our goal is to grow GLAM Camp opportunities for Indigenous girls in my community and across the country! We have a real need for positive programming like this that builds self-confidence and leadership, teaches cultural appreciation, and encourages health and wellbeing - especially during school vacation weeks. This is a chance for girls from the Wampanoag Tribe and girls from Navajo Nation to connect for the first time, deepen their appreciation for one another, and create bonds that can last a lifetime.
Team Maureen is the sponsoring non-profit- all funds will go to the GLAM Girl project.
