Bring our Afghan interpreter to the States

My name is Jake Straughn and I was a soldier in the US Army, deployed to Afghanistan in 2009-2010. My unit spent 12.5 months in almost constant combat. A local man named Paiman Khan Shenwari was attached to our platoon as an interpreter, an essential role in completing our mission. He was young and hungry to help us fight to eradicate the Taliban's tyranny and in return the US promised him a VISA to the US for his service. In July the US pulled out of Afghanistan abruptly and abandoned him and their promise. The danger to him there is increasing and getting closer to him by the day. The Taliban are actively hunting down anyone that helped ISAF forces and killing them. Recently the Taliban beheaded an interpreter 50km from his home in Kabul, AFG. Not far from there they drug another out of his home and executed him in front of his family. Paiman is rightfully scared. I have been in contact with Paiman since deployment and he’s desperately asking our platoon guys to write sworn statements about what we did with him and his contribution so he can get help. He has his SIV (Afghan Special Immigrant Visa) and a case # but it's a waiting game at this point. I have contacted my congressman Fred Upton and his team has taken all the information I can give them. I will continue to call every congressman and senator that will listen and pursue every lead I can in hopes something will come through.

I'm setting up this GoFundMe because if our government fails to save these guys that risked everything to keep our soldiers safe, at least the money could buy him a ticket somewhere out of AFG to somewhere safe.
