Bring Our First Artist to the Knitting Factory!
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Betsy, a single mother and writer living in an old knitting factory in Connemara. I'm so excited to welcome the Old Knitting Factory's first single parent artists. I put everything I had into making the purchase happen , while single-mothering and working multiple jobs myself, so I feel in my bones how needed this kind of residency space is for other single parents artists like me. When we complete this phase of fundraising, I'll be able to welcome our first funded artist resident right away.
Funds raised here will be used as follows:
Hire an accountant to register the Old Knitting Factory as a non-profit business: €1100
Rewiring the knitting factory (the only big renovation project truly necessary for the building at this point; the current electrical system dates to the 1970s!): €12000
Fix the leaky window in the residency space: €250
Furniture for the residency space: €800
€1000 childcare stipend for the resident artist's discretionary use
You can read more about the Old Knitting Factory's history and my hopes for its future in this zine I wrote about the project in 2020, or find us on Instagram , Facebook , and Patreon .
You can also subscribe to our free newsletter to stay in touch and learn how to apply for this funded residency and future events.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support.
