Bring our siblings home from South Africa

On May 20, 2022 our father, Lary, passed away unexpectedly. Besides the three of us, he leaves behind 3 adopted children in South Africa. Avigail 18, Sarah 13 and David 12. These kids were adopted when they were very young and our father and late stepmother, Louise, are the only parents they have ever known. Unfortunately, Louise passed away 5 years ago to cancer.

We are doing our best to bring our three siblings here to America to live with us, so they do not end up back in the foster care system in South Africa.

The three of us have each have two children currently and are working through the complications of rapidly increasing our family sizes.

The costs we are budgeting for in this challenging situation are the following:

* Dale and Scott are potentially going to need to travel to South Africa to have the children released to our care. Round trip tickets are approx. $1,500.00 each.

* All three children will need one way plane tickets here. They are approx. $1,000.00 each.

* We have hired an attorney with the immigration/adoption process. That cost is $375.00 an hour. We are anticipating at least 10 hours of work needed from her.

* $750.00 in American currency to send them monthly for living expenses until we are able to have them in our homes.

* $3,000.00 in misc. expenses such as documentation fees, 3 new beds and other travel expenses.

Any funds raised above and beyond the goal or above our expenses when this process is complete will be used for educational fees and extra curricular actives for the kids.

In the unlikely event that we are unable to bring the children here to live with us, the funds will be used to help support them overseas as it will be nearly impossible for them to do so on their own.

This is a difficult, scary and unexpected process that we are all learning how to wade through. We are learning about immigration and visas, adoption paperwork, policies, schooling criteria, social work, and much more all at once.

There is a lot to go into the mix: fear, sadness, excitement, nervousness, you name it, the feeling is there. Any support our friends and family can share will help take away some of the stress of this new financial burden.
