Please Look After This Bear – From Peru to Home

When the dog distribution system sends you a scruffy little soul in the middle of Peru… what are you meant to do?

I was sitting in my hammock reading when this little guy wandered up to me out of nowhere, skinny, matted, and looking lost. He sat down like he’d known me forever. Since that moment, he’s followed me everywhere—through towns, hikes, cafes—you name it.

He’s just a baby, and the other street dogs chase him off or ignore him when he tries to make friends, but he keeps trying. I saw him get stepped on and chased away by people, but he kept coming back.

So I’ve made a decision: I’m going to bring him home.

I’ve named him Paddington Bear (because where else would a lost little soul from darkest Peru get his name?). I want to get him out of here and give him the life he deserves - a bed, a bath, food that isn’t rotting out of a bin bag.

Getting a stray dog out of Peru is not simple. It involves vet visits, vaccinations, blood tests, travel crates, quarantine, paperwork and flights so the costs are high, but I’m determined.

I am leaving Peru soon so I have found him a place with a lady who will board dogs for a fee and paid for 2 months up front, and he is booked in to get his first set of vaccinations on Monday.
