Bring smiles & comfort to Marcus’ short life
Donation protected
This Go Fund Me is to raise funds to make the remainder of Marcus’ short life as joyous as possible.
At 10 years old he has put up a courageous 8 month long fight to overcome Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (blood cancer) in which he has had 180 nights in hospital, relentless chemo, painful procedures and 2 failed bone marrow transplants. Despite his brave battle we have heartbreakingly been told he cannot be cured and are preparing for end of life care at his home. We are devastated beyond belief, the journey we have been on and the end he is facing seems so cruel.
Marcus loves dogs, Michael Jackson, star wars and computer games, he loved riding his bike and dreamed of becoming a performer. He is the most unique, loving, strong and courageous boy and despite everything he has been through his humour, spirit and determination inspires us all. His battle has been horrendously brutal and gruelling. Marcus deserves to spend his remaining time in peace, surrounded by everything he loves and with his dog Rosie.
My sister (Marcus’ Mum) is a single parent and has been vigilantly devoted to his side taking care of every need throughout his entire treatment. She has had to be responsible for all his care while bearing the full impact of all the responsibilities and financial burdens with very little support. This has halted her career, every aspect of her life, diminished savings, she has incurred huge expenses living alone away from home and travelling to Manchester and Bristol for lengthy periods, all whilst fighting for his life and trying to keep his home for him to come back to.
This money will be used to relieve the financial strain of the past 8 months so that they can make the most of his precious short time left with his family. If he is well enough we would like to create memories and be able to take him on days out or experiences whilst we still can. We will also use funds to help find holistic approaches which may ease and extend his time left.
I never thought I would ever be starting a go fund me asking for help for my nephews end of life. The financial implications of caring for a child with cancer are not talked about and the support is fairly limited given the length of time people often require a high level of round the clock care.
Marcus just wants to be home now, back to where he knows and belongs, with his Rosie by his side.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for any help you can give, whether it’s a donation, sharing our story, or keeping Marcus in your thoughts and prayers. Your kindness will make all the difference, more than words can express
