Bring SPONSORED BY THE VOID to Scotland!

Help us take SPONSORED BY THE VOID to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival!

After our wildly successful Seattle premiere in October 2024, we are getting ready to take SPONSORED BY THE VOID to Scotland! Your support will help us fly, house, and feed the artists involved; rent our venue in Edinburgh; bring design visions to life; and take care of the less sexy but integral administrative demands of putting on a show!

What is SPONSORED BY THE VOID about?

36-year-old Leah is living a life she should have changed years ago: her job, her friendships, and her long-term boyfriend pile responsibilities on her with no end in sight. When Leah is approached by a manifestation of The Void in the form of an alluring woman, she must decide what she’s willing to risk to reclaim her agency. Are all her choices inevitable? Can she choose to just opt out? After all, a woman’s place is in The Void.

SPONSORED BY THE VOID is a psychosexual queer feminist horror comedy about how much women’s agency, desire, and happiness matter. A comedic exploration of the despair and disassociation that women experience as they meet everyone else’s needs before attending to their own, this play spotlights the relationship and fascination we have with THE VOID in the midst of that dulled rage. At its heart, it is a story that gives women permission to look their own desire and despair right in the mouth.

What is the Edinburgh Fringe Festival?

EDINBURGH FESTIVAL FRINGE in Edinburgh, Scotland is the largest and most legendary theatre festival in the world, established in 1947 — a glorious, unhinged, high-stakes arts marathon where thousands of performers from around the globe bring their work to be seen and celebrated.

From big names in the world of entertainment to unknown artists looking to build their careers, the festival spans every genre of live performance, including theatre, comedy, dance, physical theatre, circus, cabaret, children’s shows, musicals, opera, music, spoken word, exhibitions and events.

Why the Fringe?

The Edinburgh Fringe isn’t just a festival — it’s a creative jungle where bold ideas run wild and anything can happen (sometimes even on purpose). Bringing our show here means sharing it with global audiences, connecting with industry pros, and sharpening our craft through real-time reactions. With your support, we can dive into the chaos, make an impact, and maybe even become the next big Fringe success story!

Why support our project?

Queer, femme-centered, independent art is not exactly a priority in today’s political climate. Funding for work like this is scarce (and becoming scarcer), and big institutions aren’t rushing to support stories that challenge the status quo. That’s why individual support is more important than ever. The arts have always been a powerful force against oppression, and this show is a timely story about resilience, finding your voice, and (appropriately enough) staring into the void and choosing a path of empowerment.

Who are The Co-Conspirators?

The Co-Conspirators are a Seattle-based producing collective seeking to provide challenging, enriching, and artistically rigorous work in defiance of an industry that still undervalues women and their stories. Your co-conspirators on this project include Melanie Godsey, Kelly Karcher, Kyna Shilling, Jennifer Ewing, and Heidi McElrath.

Support new play development and our big adventure! Help us put the Fun back in, “doesn’t it seem like there’s something Fundamentally wrong with this universe?” :)
