WAR REMAINS – Bosnia Today. 25 years of peace
The subject of the photo show is the exploration of War Remains in Bosnia and Herzegovina and its current relevance a quarter of a century after the Dayton agreement. This work resulted in unique photographs showcasing many different facets of daily reminders in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
There is a great interest to show this unique body of work at the embassy of BiH (see support letter by the his Excellency the Ambassador Arnaut below) and funds are needed to support the printing, and broadcasting.
The choice of material and recording technique is deliberate and, due to its analogue nature of black and white film and panoramic format, presents the topic in its own touching way.

The wars resulting from the collapse of former Yugoslavia were the first wars in Europe that our generation of young Europeans was vividly confronted with. At the time I worked for the UN to register Bosnian refugees to Germany for the first Bosnian parliamentary election. After 25 years, in this new time of wars, it sparked my interest as a human and as a photographer to discover photographically what war means to a people, even after a long time, and to witness war remains that are still present in daily life.
As Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Balkan play such a pivotal historic, cultural, and geostrategic role in Europe, I hope this work could become a contribution to a contemporary political dialogue.

The Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Berlin was pleased to recently welcome Mr Stephan Hederich to our premises, who approached us with a proposal to present a photo project that explores War Remains in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Following insight into the content of the project and the idea of a common prospect it represents, we took significant interest in it, including because its value extends beyond its artistic merit. It also seeks to serve as a living memory and a warning for future generations.
We believe that the envisioned photo exhibit would find its most suitable venue in our Embassy, toward the end of this year, perhaps to coincide with the Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina in late November.
While the Embassy is a suitable venue for such an exhibit, and our staff more than capable to organize it, we would certainly appreciate any assistance to Mr Hederich that might be necessary to cover the expenses of such an undertaking. Such a support would enable Mr Hederich to bring this exhibit to life and reach a wider audience.
Should you require any additional information or a detailed insight into the project, please feel free to contact Mr Hederich directly at s e hanH bella iant net
We sincerely appreciate your consideration of this initiative.
Yours sincerely,
