Set in the classical pastoral fairy land immortalized by L. Frank Baum, “The Ghost Army of Oz” is an original new illustrated novel featuring many of the familiar classic characters, from Ozma and Dorothy to the Woozy and TikTok the Mechanical Man, and all new strangers and oddballs such as can only be found in the magical Land of Oz. And all carefully chronicled by the newest Royal Historian of Oz for the Greater Mundane World: Ron Horsley (author of the “Everything Under” urban fantasy series as well as the illustrated children’s novel Beyond the Grass Ocean).

This has been a labor of love over the last several years, despite challenges big and small. Not only to craft an entertaining new story of Oz but to also the painstaking care to illustrate and design it in the same styles and traditions as the classic Baum novels illustrated by John R. Neill. The final effect that the author/illustrator has strived for has been to strike a familiar—but still engaging—tone for readers of all ages and all true fans of Oz.
