Bring the Knife Angel to Haverhill
In September we are very proud to announce Haverhill has been selected to host The Knife Angel, the National Monument Against Violence and Aggression.
However, we need help to fund a programme of awareness raising activities that promote social change in Haverhill and promote the message that violence is not welcome in our town.
The sculpture, made from over 100,000 seized blades usually visits cities and larger towns and so we are excited to bring it to Suffolk, the first time it has visited our county or Norfolk and Cambridgeshire.
The project is led by Haverhill Town Council in collaboration with Darryl Barfield the father of Harley Barfield who tragically lost his life in a knife crime incident in Haverhill in 2023 and other members of his family. It is supported by Haverhill Town Council who will assist with related projects and financial management.
The Knife Angel intends to acknowledge the sad loss of Harley. It will also act as a symbol of the community’s compassion and commitment that Haverhill is a safe place to live, work and visit.
The Knife Angel is a unique and rare opportunity to take a preventative approach to all violence including knife crime, county lines and domestic violence. Find out more here
People of Haverhill, please come together to help raise the funds needed to host the Knife Angel. There are many costs involved including transportation, installation, workshops, insurance and creating an anti-violence legacy to name a few.
Please donate whatever you can to help bring the Knife Angel to Haverhill to demonstrate that our town can create a positive, lasting legacy out of the most tragic of circumstances.
