Help Forever Young Adult Build Our Forever Home

Donation protected

Forever Young Adult is writing our next chapter, and we can't do it without your help.

Founded in 2009, Forever Young Adult began simply as a way for adult fans of YA literature to find a community, a safe space where they could share their love of adolescent angst and teen crushes without being shamed for reading "books for kids." The site quickly found an audience, and after a few years of building connections online, we launched our book club program so that folks could find IRL kindred spirits. Chapters opened up across the country (and a few internationally!) and the site expanded along with our team as we gushed over our favorite authors, nerded out at book festivals, and shared our new TV and film obsessions. Now, almost 12 years later, Forever Young Adult has become more than just a book blog--it's a *home* for readers, but that home is in serious need of remodeling.

Here's the deal: many years ago, we became the "sister site" to Birth Movies Death, a website run by Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. Alamo was great to us, onboarding the site to their web platform and including us in their hosting plan. But due to the pandemic, Alamo had to file for bankruptcy, which put our site in immediate danger of disappearing. We were able to preserve our content, but we could no longer update or post, which means we had two choices: shut down FYA, or rebuild the site from scratch.

Obviously, the decision was clear: we would do everything we could to save Forever Young Adult, because for us, it's more than just a website, and we hope you feel the same way. The site has always been a passion project, meaning that our team doesn't get paid, and while we have invested our own money into FYA (and will continue to do so), we realized that some of y'all might want to lend a hand! Not only would your support help keep Forever Young Adult alive, it would help us thrive, because this new website is gonna be a major upgrade. We've taken your feedback from readers' surveys to heart, so trust us when we say that you'll love our dream home as much as we will. In the long-term, this new structure will also allow us to increase the accessibility of the site and monetize aspects of it, with the goal being to use that revenue to recruit writers of color, diversify our team, and increase the inclusivity of our content.

If we reach the goal of this campaign, we will have recouped the full amount we are paying our web designer to develop and launch the site, along with initial hosting fees. Any and all funds collected from this campaign will solely go towards launching and maintaining the site.

Whether you can spare five bucks or fifty, please know that we deeply appreciate your support. We wouldn't be here today without our readers, and we are so very grateful for the past 12 years. Cheers to many more!
