Bring Thunder back down Under

Donation protected
New content added .

https://mol.im/a/6853567  KOOKABURRA IN AMERICAN PETSHOP . this is Thunder he has been in a cage in a pet shop in Virginia for four years and is on sale for USD$1,200 we are hoping to
give him a better life .

Unfortunatly due to laws of animal Imports Thunder will not be able to enter Australia ,

This is a protected and much loved wild bird that would benefit from a better place to live after four years in a cage in a pet shop.

The lady in the original news paper report told me
“it would be wonderful” to open this account , so it was done .

The funds were for him to be brought from the pet shop if they were not willing to donate him causing supply and demand is a problem
No one wants to leave him in a cage so then on to a new home I have been in touch with sanctuaries wildlife rescues and even Australia Zoo for help and advice , then any funds would be used for transport and upkeep of Thunder in his new home .

The name of the business never is mentioned it’s not about why or who it’s about changing Thunders life .

No bank details are given or received in making this go fund me page until the end process when provisions are made for the recipient .

I don’t understand why this has been received so negatively by some people this is a much loved species close to many Australians hearts who deserves a new home .

             .....................................................

So with a heavy heart
I have been advised by a reputable source that despite the best intentions and efforts of those concerned with Thunder’s welfare, and after a wonderful offer from a local sanctuary to rehome Thunder with another female kookaburra, the pet store owner declined the offer and removed Thunder to an undisclosed location in Florida. This news is both sad and frustrating and I’m not alone in wishing this had ended differently.

As added in the last update the remainder of the money left in the account by the 30 of March will be sent to a volunteer wildlife Hospital in Qld
( Currumbin wildlife Hospital)  they rescue rehabilitate and release Native Australian Wildlife .
I thought this would be as close as possible to the hearts of the many wonderful people who donated.
