Bringing Covax-19 back to Australia

Vaxine is calling on the support of all Australians to help make our highly successful protein-based Covax-19 vaccine available in Australia.

Covax-19 is the first synthetic protein vaccine against Covid-19 to receive market authorisation, after showing strong protection against the Delta virus variant in a Phase 3 clinical trial in 16,876 subjects in the Middle East.

As an Australian-developed vaccine which is now the first vaccine developed in the Southern hemisphere to be shown to successfully protect people against Covid-19, you might think that the Australian government would be throwing their full support behind this safe and effective locally-developed vaccine.

Unfortunately, nothing could be further from the truth. Apart from a single small token grant provided by the govt as hush money when we complained of their complete lack of support, the govt has failed to support our vaccine while giving billions of dollars to our wealthy competitor, CSL, to produce the UK-developed AstraZeneca vaccine that has been linked to deaths of Australians from central venous thrombosis.

Not only have the govt failed to support our efforts, but if Australians are to have any chance to access our Covax-19 vaccine then the government requires that we first pay their agency, the Therapeutic Goods Administration or TGA, hundreds of thousands of dollars in fees to them and regulatory consultants, just to assess our application to get our vaccine locally approved. Hence, it may cost us half a million dollars or more for the privilege of making our vaccine which is already available overseas, available to fellow Australians.

We are getting thousands of calls from concerned Australians who are being threatened with loss of their jobs if they don’t comply with onerous and in our view unconstitutional government vaccine mandates and who at the same time are being prevented by the government in having access to a safe and effective protein-based vaccine alternative.

As a small Australian research group, any available funds are needed to keep developing our life saving vaccines, and we simply cannot afford to pay the government these massive fees it demands to register our vaccine locally, while it continue to refuse to support us.

Alongside urging you to very carefully consider who you vote for at the next election, we are taking the extraordinary step of asking ordinary Australians to fund what their government has miserably failed to and help us raise the necessary funds to make Covax-19 vaccine available in Australia. Including payment of the onerous TGA application fees.

Never before in the history of the world has a developer of a pandemic vaccine being forced by the apathy of their own govt, to have to resort to crowd funding to make their highly successful vaccine locally available.

If through this campaign we are successful in obtaining the ability to make Covax-19 available in Australia, then for each Covax-19 vaccine used in Australia, Vaxine agrees to donate one Covax-19 vaccine to the Nepal Foundation for use in immunising the people of Nepal.
