Walking 125 Miles in 7 Days on the CelticWay

BRINGING FREEDOM - because there is over 46 million people caught in slavery worldwide, including the UK. Even Cornwall!
I'll be taking up yet another challenge to raise funds and help create awareness on human trafficking and slavery. BUT this time I'm staying in CORNWALL. I'll be walking 125 MILES in 7 DAYS (usually completed in 12 days or more) treading the steps on the Cornish Celtic Way pilgrimage. My walk will start on Saturday 13th July at St.Germans, to finish on the 19th July at St.Michaels Mount. It will be my first walk to raise money for local small charity Bringing Freedom, as over the years we have passed the money over to our amazing charities we have proudly supported over the years.
The proceeds will help us to fund another £2000 to reach our £5000 target to enable Bringing Freedom to become a fully registered charity. Then the funds will be the start to saving towards a specialist halfway house for victims of sexual exploitation and slavery. The house will welcome women and children after they have been released from their initial 45 day safe house. My vision is to provide a safe home with ongoing aftercare, love and compassion, counselling, medication, education, learning of life skills, creativity through art and dance, and the opportunity to seek out employment and housing.
For those of you who may not know much about Bringing Freedom, here is my story and our vision.
I became fully aware of human trafficking within the UK back in July 2010 when I was staying in Sydney, Australia. I was attending the Hillsong Conference and one day I was touched by a speaker called Christine Caine, Hillsong Church Leader and Founder of the A21 Campaign against human trafficking. Christine taught the audience of the horrific dangers of human trafficking and shared real life stories of the victims they have already rescued. From that day I knew something big was growing on my heart and suddenly I had the ambition to make a difference.
The heaviness of this calling was growing greater and greater as the year progressed. So on my return back to Cornwall in April 2011 I started to pray into this burning on my heart. Struggled with Dyslexia through my life, which was never picked up until I was 24 years of age. I suffered with low self-esteem and saw myself as stupid, so I always hid away from anything which was academic and never tried to go to University. I certainly had no experience in public speaking either. With this in mind, I never of thought I would have the courage and ability to start a Charity, but with God's help anything is possible. Through a lot of praying and listening, Jesus showed me the way. August 2011 Bringing Freedom was launched.
Through Bringing Freedom we help create awareness on human trafficking and slavery. I have organised many fund raising events over the years and we have been extremely blessed by past donations totalling over £7000. The money raised was always provided to the charities we proudly supported - The A21 Campaign, Love146 and BACA.
In the near future it is our vision to play a big part in a Halfway House based in the South West of England. As mentioned above the house will welcome women and children after they have been released from their initial 45 day safe house. My vision is to provide a safe home with ongoing aftercare, love and compassion, counselling, medication, education, learning of life skills, creativity through art and dance, and the opportunity to seek out employment and housing.
