Bringing Ma & Pa to my graduation

Hi all,
My name is Derrick Obiri – Yeboah, a graduating senior at Hope College. Four years ago, I left my family in Ghana and traveled across the world in pursuit of a higher education that will further my pursuit of knowledge and eventual goal of becoming a medical doctor. Although this was an incredibly difficult decision to leave my family, I saw this full tuition scholarship from Hope College as an opportunity for me to improve myself and be able to serve my country and the world. With that in mind and God on my side, I strove through these four years even when my family couldn’t drop me off for college or visit due to financial hardships. This was very difficult but totally worth it and I’m grateful to Hope College for this opportunity.
I am concluding my studies at Hope College in a few weeks as I graduate with my Bachelor’s in Chemistry in preparation for medical school this Fall and it would mean the world to me to have my parents and sister join me as I mark this milestone. Although we have been oceans apart throughout my time at college, I really couldn’t have made it through without the support of these individuals be it via their encouraging text messages or audio messages and so it would really make me happy to share this moment with them.
Please consider giving to assist my parents and sister purchase plane tickets to my graduation. Any contributions that remain would be directed toward my medical school expenses. Thank you SOO much for reading and for contributing! God bless you!
