Ukraine to US - Bringing our boys home!
Donation protected
As many of you know, we have been in the process of adopting Artem (14) and Max (13) from Ukraine for the past two years. We hosted the boys the Christmas of 2017 through an orphan hosting program. We started the adoption process in 2020 and finally came to the last step, which was our final court hearing. Hours after our court date, war broke out in Ukraine. Even though these boys were legally ours at this point, because of the war, the normal process of receiving our final documents has been delayed. The government officials also issued a statement they would no longer be doing any evacuations.
Phone calls and messages from our boys about bombings and going to underground bunkers left them fearful and us feeling helpless being so far away. As you can imagine, we were heartbroken and uncertain about what this meant in terms of getting our boys home to the U.S.
After intense communications with several people and lots of prayers, we are happy to report that as of this week, our boys have evacuated and are safe in Poland after a grueling 30+ hour trip. We are so thankful we have been able to communicate with them, and we are so relieved in knowing they are currently in a safe place.
This fundraising effort is to help bring our boys the rest of the way to their forever home! We need to overcome many hurdles to get them home due to the war and anticipate many expenses as the process is now not what we originally anticipated.
Thank you for your outpouring support for our family, these boys and the country of Ukraine.
