Bring Laylie Home
Donation protected
On July 9-12, Serena DeGarmo, her mother, oldest child Noah, and youngest child Laylie, 9 months old, traveled to Dominica to share the gospel of Christ at a VBS.
On July 13, it was time to fly home. Laylie had not been feeling well. When they arrived in San Juan, Puerto Rico for their scheduled layover for the flight to Atlanta, Laylie began to have seizures, which lasted 20-30 minutes. Paramedics were called. Laylie was rushed to the hospital trauma unit. She came very close to dying. Laylie was unconscious for over 48 hours and did not wake up until late Saturday night, July 15.
Now, Laylie is making steady progress with her recovery, but Serena, her mom, and Laylie remain in Puerto Rico and medical costs are growing at a staggering amount. The hospital cost alone is over $950 per day. This does not include medical tests and doctor fees. The family is also in need of covering communication, hotel, food, and additional travel expenses that have now occurred. Unfortunately, the DeGarmo's health insurance policy is not accepted in Puerto Rico.
We are raising funds to bring Laylie home to Ohio where she can receive treatment at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. If you would like to contribute, any amount is appreciated and helpful.
