Bring Zuliang Home
Donation protected
In July we'll finally get to meet our new daughter, Zu Liang, and bring her home!
Family and friends have been so encouraging and helpful during this long process. You shared our excitement, wrote references for us, are are still helping us with construction on a new bedroom.
Now, with just a few months to go, we're looking at travel. We've already covered the majority of our international adoption expenses by saving up and drawing from our short- and long-term savings. What's left is international airfare plus significant expenses inside the country.
Our best estimate of this final cost is around $8,500. We have no idea what our fundraising goal should be so the number we're putting down here is $6,000. Any amount will help and we're just glad to have so many people that love us along for the ride.
More about Zu Liang:
Last November we were matched with this beautiful little girl who lives in central China. She'll be four years old in June. E and R are about to turn thirteen and ten -- they are going to be excellent big sisters!
Zu Liang has been in a foster home since before she was two; before that she was in an orphanage. Her medical reports show she has an eye condition called "nystagmus" which basically means her eyes move involuntarily, causing vision problems. We don't know what the severity is, or to what extent doctors here will be able to help.
We've heard that it can take up to six months for an internationally adopted child to get up to speed on their English. So you can imagine this will be quite an adventure. There is no way we would be doing this if we didn't know we have the support of our friends and family.
