The Story
A confident young ballet prodigy fights to maintain his perfect image after a cancer diagnoses threatens everything.

Synopsis

Despite being one of the top students at a prestigious ballet school, Dillon finds himself unable to perform like he did before a life-changing diagnosis.
His efforts to appear in control and flawless only reveals how broken he actually is.

The film takes place during Dillon’s dance class. Due to his newly discovered sickness, he finds it nearly impossible to perform the way he’s expected to.
In addition to being physically incapable, the emotional and mental strain weighs on him. Throughout the class, flashbacks are continuously running through his mind. The diagnosis. Prior performances. Other people’s judgements.

In the midst of all that, there is an inkling of the dancer he was before, where his connection with God, nature, and himself was his driving source.

The Writer/Director

Aloha! My name is Amia Voluntad. I am an independent filmmaker, photographer, and storyteller with the focus of capturing stories that showcase the true character of Adonai.

Growing up, I'd always had a passion for storytelling. I developed a passion for storytelling by creating plays and videos with my dolls using my parents’ old camera. With a growing interest in performing arts, I trained in ballet, contemporary, jazz, and hip-hop from 2012 through 2017.

In 2018, I founded Written Truth Productions with the goal of telling stories that inspire people to know the true character of Adonai, be reconnected to creation, and do what He's called us to do. Since then, I have produced and directed multiple short films, some of which have screened and won awards at various film festivals.

As a former dancer myself, I felt drawn to this story in relation with my own experiences inside and out of the studio. With this film I aim to showcase how one can find themselves disconnected from God, nature, and themselves and the effects that it has on their wellbeing.

Currently based on Maui, HI, I hope to represent the Hawaiian culture by illustrating through dance the reconnection to the Aina (Land) and culture as well.
