Brittany Paul and Family

On October 7th, 2022, at just 36 years old and with no prior family history, Brittany was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. Brittany and her husband Jon both work full time and have three young, beautiful children, Cannon (11), Cohen (8) and Campbell (5).

Brittany follows 'Masseya', an influencer on social media who had recently shared her own breast cancer journey. After learning of her story and feeling as though something may be "off", Brittany made an appointment with her doctor on October 4th. The following events then happened very quickly:

October 5th: Mammogram and Ultrasound

October 6th: Biopsy

October 7th: Phone call confirmation of Breast Cancer

October 10th: Pathology Results

October 19th: MRI/Bloodwork

October 27th: Single Masectomy and Chemo Port Placed.

Brittany is anxiously awaiting pathology results, whether or not her lymph nodes are clear and fervently praying for clear margins. She is set to begin treatment around November 17th, 2022 and have reconstructive surgery about four months after treatment is completed. Brittany will travel to Greer and Spartanburg 2-3 times a week over the next year, as this is where her surgeon, plastic surgeon and oncologist are located.

With initial appointments, scans, biopsies, and the masectomy having already taken place, Brittany's out of pocket medical expenses are climbing and will continue to as more scans, surgeries and treatments are needed. Furthermore, there will be travel and lodging expenses, especially if she needs to stay overnight for next day treatments. Their family deductible also starts over January 1, 2023.
