My name is Brittany. I am 24 years old. I have a neurological disorder that causes a dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system, meaning all the functions of the body that are automatic: breathing, heartbeat, blood pressure, temperature regulation, digestion, bladder and bowel functions — just a few of the things that make our bodies efficient places to live. My body is constantly searching for the healthy level of homeostasis most people enjoy without ever having to think about it. Along with that, I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, (which affects your bodies connective tissue, primarily the skin, joints, and blood vessel walls) End-Stage Bladder Disease, and 9 other chronic illnesses. In my body, all of the aspects of the autonomic nervous system are affected. There are no cures for any of the diseases I have and I will battle the complications of these diseases for the rest of my life.
But when you look at me, you can’t see how I am failing. There are no cures for any of my diseases. For me, “treatment” means symptom management. A regime of medications, strong pain meds, surgical procedures and interventions, it is a ride on a runaway roller coaster in an abandoned theme park – frightening, unpredictable and overwhelming.
I have reached the point in my illness journey where I need help… both financially and spiritually. I am spending over $500 a month on meds to essentially keep me alive and functioning, and even that is not enough. Medical bills are piling up and it’s incredibly overwhelming.
I was recently introduced to a product on the market that can deliver and help me with chronic pain. It’s a 100% drug free wearable pain relief.
