Brittany’s Worst Year
Donation protected
Brittany Burger started 2018 just like we’ve started every year- with a big celebration. She was in Austin, TX with her family, friends, and the love of her life. This year was set to be the best year of their lives. Her boyfriend, Seth Ott was helping to set the foundation of their life with adventures, love, and the purchase of a home in January.
2018 was a year of hope, but in early February- everything changed. Brittany and I were on the phone, she was making an Italian dinner in her new kitchen and waiting for Seth the come home. We said goodbye and I went on with my life in Atlanta. Two hours later I heard my phone ring and noticed it was Brittany. I was already half asleep and really didn’t want to pick up. Something inside of me told me I should: so I did. Brittany was broken. Through her tears I could barely make out what she was saying. “He’s gone. Seth is gone.”
Seth passed away in a fatal motorcycle accident that night. Brittany was never the same.
Trying to maintain some type of normalcy, Brittany chose to stay in her beloved new home. She tried to preserve anything she could to hold on to her love.
After several months of grieving, she started to rebuild. She forged strong friendships, and began doing all the things she loved to stay positive and move on. Brittany and Seth’s favorite hobbies together were dirt biking and boating. She got back in the saddle and after months of gloom- she felt like herself again.
Four weeks ago Brittany was out riding with a friend and wrecked her dirt bike. She was thrown off, and broke her pelvis. Brittany was put on bed rest and only just started moving around with the help of a walker.
Early Thursday morning 11.8.2018 a fire, known as the “Camp fire,” broke out in the mountains above Paradise, CA. Brittany got out of bed, grabbed her dog Paisley and cat Harlow, and drove away from a house that was once her “forever home.”
Brittany and Seth’s home, all their belongings, and any last memory of their life before has turned to ashes. Nothing is left but memories. Everything is gone.
2018 was the worst possible year anyone can experience for Brittany, and my best friend needs help.
I would like to do everything I can to help out Brit, and help her rebuild a new life. If you know Brit, you know that the girl is stubborn and would never seek out help if she didn’t need it. I am stepping in and saying “she needs it.”
Please help me help my best friend by investing in her future. Any little bit helps.
Thank you, friends.
