This is a NEW campaign.  If you've already supported her previous campaign, THANK YOU!!!  Please share her story and site to everyone!

Updated - February 20, 2021

How can you help?  Get to know Brittni’s story and help us raise the payment for a new Cruiser Stroller.  The Cruiser Stroller, is similar to a child's umbrella stroller - but made for an adult.  Due to wear and tear, she has also outgrown it. This new stroller, will continue to allow Brittni to go to Church comfortably, make hair salon appointments manageable, visits with her podiatrist easier, etc.,  It's blend of safety and style, makes it an excellent chair option for Brittni, as she enjoys her independence and strives to accomplish as many things as she can.  Her new stroller will help her to do just that!   G O A L   R E A C H E D !!!!!!!! From Kathy Robinson Young, Brittni's Mother:
“One August morning in 1992, I noticed Brittni did not want to stand or hold her bottle. I'd put the bottle in her right hand and she'd transfer it to her left. Sometime later, I noticed that she'd lean against the bed, tap her toes, as though she didn't want to put any weight on her foot. I took her to the hospital's ER that same night I noticed that Brittni's right leg would stick straight out when I took her for rides in her stroller.

After hours upon hours of tests, the ER doctor told me Brittni had suffered hemiparesis. She had had a stroke.

It was explained that Brittni's stroke did not happen all at once. It was gradual. Within a month, the stroke managed to also knock out the left side of Brittni's body. My daughter was only 1  1/2 years old at the time. She had just learned how to walk and start saying a few words.

The diagnosis was Leigh's Syndrome, a rare disorder that affects the central nervous system and is caused by mutations in mitochondrial DNA that interfere with cells in the brain that play a role in motor movements. (visit http://www.umdf.org/ for more information)

Before Brittni was two years old, I enrolled her in special education. Most families send their kids to school with backpacks. I sent Brittni to school everyday in a wheelchair - backpack in tow.

I met my husband Carl when Brittni was around 7 years old. She'll be 30 years old in 2021! Over the past 22 years, he has become one of her biggest supporters.  His daughters, Jazell and Janell, along with Brittni's sister Sachi, and Sachi’s daughters - Makarah and MaRaj -- including Copper, the family poodle complete our family!

Brittni graduated from Dorsey High School in Los Angeles (2013), with High Honors! That fall, Brittni attended and completed two classes at Pasadena City College.

Brittni and Sachi have volunteered with Special Olympics Southern California since the ages of 3 and 4 years old. Brittni served as a committee member for World Games Special Olympics 2015 - Host Town Pasadena.  Brittni and Sachi have also volunteered with "Big Sunday", where Britnni was selected as "Kid of the Month" (October 2015).  Brittni also volunteered with LA2024, and plans to volunteer for LA2028.  They continue to share the history surrounding their grandfather - Matthew "Mack" Robinson - 1936 Olympian, 200 Meters Silver Medalist, Berlin, Germany.

One of Brittni's passions - she loves to collect to distribute (when she can), clothes, shoes, blankets, etc., to people because "they need it more than we do"!

I can tell you, that it has not always been easy, but Brittni's desires, strength, and that "sparkle in her eyes", have kept me going.  Late October into November, she was hospitalized - thankfully through many prayers & well wishes - it was NOT Covid-19. Brittni said "I think that all of the prayers worked"!
