Becoming a Nurse:A Lifelong Dream

Donation protected
Hello! My name is Brittany and since my father's death I have always wanted to become a registered nurse. This year I am closer to my dream than ever before but have run into a roadblock.

Let me tell you a little about myself: My name is Brittany Miller (Hall) and I am 28 year old wife and mother to three children and a stepson. This past August I gave birth to my daughter and in December I married the love of my life. My previous relationship was an emotionally abusive one and I am glad to have survived the hell that came from that. I thank God; however, with blessing me with two wonderful children from that union. However, their father does not support them financially and is currently 32K in arrears. My husband and I are their only support and everyday we strive to be an example to them. This includes working hard and being unrelenting. Currently I am employed at a major hospital in the Baltimore Metro area and have been in the patient care field for the last 6 years. As I have stated before I have wanted nothing more in my life than to be a nurse and service those at their most critical point in their life.

During my previous relationship part of his emotional abuse was to prevent me from furthering my education. Now with a supportive spouse who pushes me to do better everyday I am ready to be all that I know I can be.

With all of my prerequisite coursework completed  I went to secure my application for the nursing program at Coppin State University, unfortunately, I was notified that my financial aid has been diminished and I am being backbilled for my previous semester of attendance.

Until I can pay off my balance I will not be able to start the RN program and this is heartbreaking as I only have until February 16 to come up with the money. Given the limited amount of time I have to come up with the money I am asking for help. Recently I have paid for a wedding and my last semester of prerequisites out of pocket. Had I have had more time, acquiring the money myself would have been feasible.

It means the world to me to become a nurse and be an example to my 3 children. I would also like to walk the stage while my grandmother, who was instrumental in my upbringing, is still here on this Earth. I am 80% of the way to meeting my goal with only 54 more credits to go before I am a Baccalaureate Nurse.

I am asking you to give whatever you can so that I can live out my dream and in turn be a service to the world. Thank you in advance from my family and myself.
