Thumbs up for Josh

Donation protected
To our friends and family, most of you know me, but for those who don’t, I’m Hannah. One of Josh’s many siblings.

As I write to you my brother is currently in surgery.
On August 16th Josh decided to enjoy an evening motorcycle ride. He was hit by a driver who failed to stop at a red light, drastically changing his life.

He is now in the ICU in the Portland area with too many broken bones and fractures to count, a brain bleed, a collapsed lung, serious muscle, tissue damage, and hasn’t fully woken up. As a backup, he is still attached to a ventilator.

Thankfully he is highly medicated and can’t feel the pain right now.

He’s able to communicate with his healthcare team and my family by giving a thumbs up. This was the first sign that he’s in there and processing.

Although Josh is stable, he isn’t in the safe zone yet. As he has multiple reconstructive surgeries ahead of him. His team has made it known that Josh will not be leaving the hospital until of all his surgeries are finished. Unfortunately we don’t know when that is. Potentially months and months away.

We don’t know what Josh’s future looks like right now. All I can say is that this does not define him. For those of you who know Josh, you know that he’s been crushing his grades in chiropractic school with only two years left. Unfortunately his class will be graduating without him. Again.

Back in 2018 Josh had a stroke that put his life on hold. In 2020 he had to have heart surgery for PFO. None of this stopped him from persuing his goals and pushing through the everyday trials that life has to offer. He always kept going and figuring out solutions to the equation. That’s what Josh does, he finds a way where most can’t. Not only he he find a way, he has always tried to help others find it if he can.

One of the hardest pills to swallow is that life will continue on while he has to sit back and focus on recovering in so many ways.

Josh has a long road of surgeries, recovery, therapy, and rehab to it’s fullest extent.
He will make it though. He has a village ready to care for him and pick him back up.

Thats what this Gofundme is for.

With this journey comes many financial obstacles.
My mom ,Cindy, will be staying in Portland for the foreseeable future to be by Josh’s side.
My Dad ,Marc, will be taking time from work as he can to be with Josh and my mom.
My siblings and I will also be making frequent trips to be by his side.
This funding will help my family pay for the extra costs that may come. Gas, food, lodging, bills. Taking care of Josh’s personal financial matters.
Anything extra that we can put away will be saved for Josh, so that when he’s ready he will have something to help him get back on his feet and keep persuing the life he has been building for himself.

I will continue my best to keep you updated.

I speak for Josh and my family when I say we truly appreciate and love you.
So many have stepped forward with such love and generosity. ❤️

P.S Out of respect for Josh, we will not be posting pictures of him in his current condition, as he is a very private person.
