Brochers’ Ukraine Trip

Since the start of the war in Ukraine, I have had a desire to get involved in helping folks there who have been displaced from their homes. As we have watched the story unfold we have seen families having to flee to safety leaving everything behind through no fault of their own. Last year my wife and I had had the privilege of being involved in supporting a Ukrainian family who had moved to Moray. It was heartbreaking to hear what they had come from with such a young family, fleeing for their own safety leaving other family members behind. More recently, upon hearing about the Ukraine Coffee morning in Burghead, I got chatting with Danny Ralph who has a Ukrainian family staying with him. It was through conversation that Danny and I got chatting about a trip to Ukraine. Helen Will @Global Food Train for Ukraine, based in Peterhead and currently on her 11th trip to the Ukraine delivering aid and taking refugees back to the UK was delighted to hear our plan and has offered to assist us in collecting aid and connecting us with families in the Ukraine. Through Helen we found out that there are many families who have all the appropriate paperwork, Visas and UK sponsor families organised, but are in desperate need of help with transport to get to the UK. This week Danny and I travelled to Aberdeen where we purchased a 17 seater minibus - our plan is to fill it with aid and take it out to Ukraine and then provide assistance to those who have their paperwork ready and are looking for assistance with transport back to the UK. Return travel to the Ukraine is likely to cost in the region of £2000-£2500 for fuel and ferries alone. Since our family and friends have found out what we plan to do, many have asked us how they can help, so we have decided to open this funding page and any help with funding would be greatly appreciated - thank you!
