Brodie Macdonald is a 16 year old West Lothian based sabre fencer who has represented Great Britain internationally. Brodie has only been fencing competitively for 3 years and has progressed impressively in that time.

He has just been selected to fence for Scotland in the Commonwealth Cadet and Junior Championships in July 2024, in New Zealand. This is huge honour and a very exciting opportunity for any athlete. Fencing is a particular challenge in Scotland as there are few competitions so Brodie has to regularly travel to ranking competitions in England and, this last year, further afield in Europe.

New Zealand is an amazing chance for Brodie to represent Scotland - a dream since he started fencing competitively just under 3 years ago. However, fencing is not a funded sport. He has had to pay for all kit, national and international travel, clubs, training camps and coaching, supported by his parents. We have been advised that the Commonwealths is going to be very expensive. For Brodie alone, it will be approximately £4500 for just the basic flights, accommodation and fees.

Any support people can give to help Brodie's progress would be hugely appreciated. Thank you!
