Broken Bridges Nature Reserve
Donation protected
Come and support our community project aiming to restore the Broken Bridges reserve for local habitat & wildlife and improved community access.
The 34-acre Fitzgerald Farm, within the area commonly known as Broken Bridges, between Lower Bemerton and Harnham in Salisbury, is currently on the market, and thanks to over 200 supporters, has been listed as an asset of community value (ACV), giving the community an opportunity to raise money to purchase the reserve area.
The meadows include part of the River Avon Site(s) of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and Special Area of Conservation. The area includes important habitats, wet floodplain meadows, wood pasture, rare woodland and chalk streams.
We have an exciting opportunity to safeguard this much-loved natural area as a community asset, improve access and enhance its wildlife for everyone to enjoy.
Your donation assists with costs incurred by the project. It is also an expression of support and your contributions will help us as we actively apply for major grants, in advance of a possible purchase, including surveys, and other professional services.
The purchase price is only part of what is needed - other funding is needed to restore the wildlife and upgrade the footpath which is often impassable at present.
In the event of an unsuccessful campaign, remaining funds will be redistributed to donors on an equitable basis, or in agreement with individual donors, donated to a community cause supporting the local environment.
This campaign is organised by Broken Bridges Nature Reserve Limited (BBNR) - a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC). To meet the local community team behind the campaign and for more information, you can find more details and get in touch via our website...
