!!UPDATE!! Broken Knee- Funds for Julie Collins

I was worried I'd have to live with all the gear in my knee forever because the hospital wanted $3,700 to come back in to remove it. But, they are going to accept and bill me without up front payment, so I'll be having it all removed on Wed. Feb 7th. I initially thought that setting a GoFundMe goal of $20K might be excessive...turns out it surely was not. So, I'm back here to give this report, and ask for one last push. And it's more to help me maintain my place of residence and keep my car, at this point. If I raise enough for medical bills as well, that would be a Godsend.

As to my progress... I am now able to walk, aided with a cane...no more brace. I reached and exceeded my flexion goal through PT, but I have had to stop going to PT because I'm out of money for it.

I still have not been able to return to work, and haven't worked since late last July. I have had marginal success with selling my crochet, but I've been working very hard to establish it as a bona fide business, in hopes that I won't have to return to cleaning...I'm just not physically able enough to do what I used to do...yet :D

I am also able to drive again, after reaching my flexion goal, though I really don't go anywhere.

I'm unsure of what my next downtime will be after they open my knee and remove all of the gear, but I do know that I'm in the homestretch of this awful ordeal.

Picture this, an excited mom coming to show her daughter something she is intrigued about. High energy in the air, and chaos around the corner, literally. A hungry hippo game on the floor and it is all over. A slip, a fall, a crash to say the least. In the blink of an eye, one mother's knee shattered.

My mom, Julie Collins, shattered her kneecap into 6 pieces. Resulting in surgery of pins/screws/plates/staples to repair the damage. 6+ weeks of bed rest are required, and no work can be accomplished. Physical Therapy looming in the future and no way to pay. Seeing as she is uninsured, any excess funds from the donations will go toward the outstanding medical bills from the hospital stay and surgery cost. I am putting a call out to the universe and to our friends and family to help take care of my mom. If my mom has ever helped you or impacted your life in any way, please find it in your heart to lend a hand. Anything helps and EVERYTHING is appreciated.
