Hello, I am William Bueckers, a Master Patrolman with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.  I have been a police officer for 18 years, with a wife and two children.  Through the course of my career, there was a shift or a day of the week that I haven't worked at some point and was always willing to work for the department or private security at one the several part-time jobs that I was employed.

When becoming a police officer, I was guaranteed that I would have a long rewarding career and that I would never get rich.  That advise was so correct.  But through the years with the loving support and understanding from my wife and children, I was able to provided a comfortable life through hard work and sacrifice.

On April 3, 2020, at 7:16 am, I had just completed a call for service and was going through an intersection on a green light.  A driver of an SUV had made several bad decisions that day that would effect the rest of our lives.  The driver had failed to carry insurance on the SUV that he was driving, decided to inject heroin, and drive his SUV.  Before before being involved in the accident, the driver had reached an estimated speed of 70 MPH before overdosing on the heroin and driving his SUV into my drivers door.

I cannot recall what had happened from the accident, but waking up in the hospital in the ICU.  I woke to extreme pain, a breathing tube, and being restrained to the hospital bed alone.  I was informed that I was involved in an accident and had sustained a broken hip/pelvis, 7 vertebrae, and a lacerated spleen.  I had undergone surgery and had a pin that extended hip to hip because the pelvis bowl was crushed and a pin holding my sacrum in place. I was housed in ICU for the next 7 days before being transferred to another hospital for habitation for another 7 days and being released.

Since the accident, I have been dealing the physical pains, the emotional effects from the accident of not being able to do things, and now ultimately because of my inability to work the financial stress.  Knowing that I'm not able to work to continue to maintain my household has increased my emotional effects from the accident.

Each month that goes by, I'm loosing $4,000 - $5,000 in income.  The money that I have put away for retirement and rainy days is diminishing.   I don't know a lot about GO FUND ME, but at this point I'm swallowing my pride and reaching out for help.  People might say that my request is a lot of money.  I have up to a year or more of physical therapy and I don't know when I'll be released to go back to work.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated and extending my deepest Thank You for your support.
