Bronx Vipers Basketball

My name is Coach Chris and I have spent a great portion of my life using basketball to enrich the lives of the youth of New York City. I started coaching as an assistant coach for my younger brother's team and I instantly realized that I was given the talent of enriching the lives of young men and women through basketball. For many years I have seen the lives of these young men and women thrive through my help on and off the court. I began to attract the attention of the parents of these young men and women who would ask me to please take interest in their child because they have seen the difference I have made in other children and they were seeking this improvement in their child. I not only take interest in the on court lives of these children but also their school and family lives. For example, I monitor their grades and their conduct at home with their parents. I have become Coach, Big Brother, Life teacher and sometimes second or even first father to these children depending on the circumstances. It might seem like too much work for some but the satisfaction that I receive is priceless. I have seen parents go from wanting to call the police on their children to watching them graduate from high school with tears in their eyes. These young men and women want to play for me and the demand was getting out of hand. Through word of mouth I have gotten too many requests to help and these parents don’t trust anyone but me after they see how I dedicate myself to their children. I will give you an example of a typical program for a child.
         I will rent a gym and have practices to get these age groups organized. Tell them my rules for not just basketball but also what it takes to keep them in my program. These young men and women fight so hard to stay in my program that they end up changing their lives for the better. I then form teams and enter into tournaments around the area and I go away on certain weekends and stay in hotels and play in these tournaments as a Basketball FAMILY.  I rent a van, rent hotel rooms and pay the entrance fees for the tournaments. These excursions are the biggest help in my goal to keep these young men and women on the right track. The parents and children keep on top of me after they see how this program has effected them in such a positive way. The main issue facing me right now is that all this time I have been doing this mostly on my personal funding and I can’t manage this anymore. I am hoping with this GoFundMe that people can see what I am trying to do and help not only the lives of their children improve through basketball but also their community.
