Plaque for Needham's Admiral James Gracey, USCG
Donation protected
To all who shall see these presents, greetings!
In 2000, the town of Needham, Massachusetts renamed the street in front of our high school to commemorate Admiral James Gracey, 17th Commandant of the US Coast Guard, and one of Needham High School's most distinguished graduates. Admiral Gracey graduated Needham HS in 1945 and the US Coast Guard Academy in 1949. He later spent 37 years in the US Coast Guard and led the entire service in the mid 1980s.
To mark the 20th anniversary of the street dedication, I propose we commemorate and honor Admiral Gracey's contributions by posting a permanent plaque for all to see and learn of his many contributions to Needham, the US Coast Guard, and the United States of America.
Your donation will help pay for a permanent plaque to be posted along Admiral Gracey Way in October 2019 so that Needham residents will never forget Admiral James Gracey’s many contributions to our town, service, and nation.
