Hi, my name is Jess, and I'm raising funds for my sister-in-law Brook Cavanaugh's Lyme Disease Treatment. Brook has been battling Lyme Disease since August 2020. Brook is a ray of sunshine, which is why the quote above is what she preaches. She was a hard-working and hilarious person and is now unable to work or function in daily life due to Lyme Disease. She suffers from neurological problems, including body tremors, brain fog, chronic fatigue and Bell's Palsy.

About Brook

Brook is a dedicated wife and mom to 3 boys, as well as an incredible sister and friend. Before her health issues started, Brook worked with children with special needs at Hoosick Falls Elementary School and also had a second job to support her family. For the 27 years I've known her, she has always been the light in every room, making people laugh and caring for others. Brook loved being active outdoors, such as walking in the woods and going for long bike rides. She misses living the life she used to have, and she's desperate to find (and fund!) treatment that helps her heal.

Brook's Health Journey

In August 2020, Brook began experiencing cognitive decline and chronic fatigue. In September, she was rushed to the emergency room with psuedo seizures / tremors. At that time she was found to be positive for COVID-19. After spending some time in the hospital recovering from COVID, her neurological problems never resolved. She was evaluated by every specialist possible, including neurologists, long-haul COVID doctors, etc. Initially it was thought that her primary issue was long-haul COVID, however, in 2021, she was also diagnosed with Lyme Disease. She underwent several rounds of Lyme treatment, which helped temporarily, but did not clear the Lyme Disease. She continues to suffer from the same debilitating symptoms. Finally, earlier this year, she was referred to Soujourns Community Health Clinic, and their prescribed treatment regimen has helped tremendously. Brook has some hope, at last, that she could recover!
