Brook Runs the Cities (20K) MMIW Team Fundraiser

Boozhoo, my name is Brook LaFloe & I'm a co-founder of Niniijaanis One of Ones. I was fortunate to be selected by Native Women Running, for sponsorship for the 2024 Women Run the Cities race (May 18th) with a team of women who will be running for MMIW/R- Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women/Relatives. I have decided to run the 10k option to challenge myself. Prior to this race, I will also be running 2 other community 5k's, one by Native Women Running for National Awareness Day for Missing & Murdered Indigenous Relatives 5K (May 5th) & the 13th Annual Wanaisguni Hikurus Hajawi 5K (May 10th).

I will be running for my cousin Becky DuBois. This is not my first run for her, but it is my first time being sponsored so I want to use this opportunity to pay it forward to the Niniijaanis MMIW boys' basketball team. I've had the privilege to be one of their basketball coaches for the past 4 years. We play to honor our cousin, aunty, mother, and relative Becky DuBois, who was ran over on the Turtle Mountain Reservation April 16th, 2017. We named our team to play in Becky's honor, bring healing to our family && all MMIW/R.

I will be looking to raise $2000 ($100/mile) towards our Native Jr Nationals tournament June 21-23. For every $100 raised, I will be sending out small reciprocity gifts from myself & other donations made to the team. Follow us on Instagram or Facebook to see the gifts!
