Brooke Lyn Maynard, 24, tragically lost her life on the evening of August 2nd as a result of a senseless car accident. Brooke's vehicle was hit by a stolen car, that had run a red light after having led the police on a 10 minute high-speed chase through downtown Durham, NC.
Brooke is survived by her 4 year old daughter Chloe Snow, her parents Mike Kelley & Kara McClendon, her brother Michael Kelley, & her sister Danny Maynard. She had recently started working at the Durham County Sheriff’s Office as a Detention Officer where she was held in high-esteem by both colleagues and inmates alike for her caring, dedication, and hard work.
Many of you may recognize Mike and Kara as neighbors, great friends, and/or the owners of Environs Landscaping which provides both landscape maintenance & installation services to many of us here in Durham as well as in surrounding areas.
As their neighbors, friends, & clients, we are reaching out to our fellow Durhamites as well as members of other local communities to raise $3,000 to help them take a short respite from running their small business as well as cover unexpected expenses associated with this tragic loss in their family.
Any contribution amount will help – this will allow them to grieve, spend quality time with family, reminisce, and come to terms with this terrible loss.
