Brooklyn’s Fight Against Hepatoblastoma
Donation protected
Two years ago Mr. & Mrs. Gonzalez set out to do what so many families dream about and works towards. Build their own home! After working hard and saving they set out to do just that for their loving family of four. Which includes Daughter Brooklyn Age 3 and Daughter Jordyn 8months. Sadly they fell victim to a contractor who gave them nothing but broken promises, leaving them not only the empty lot they started with but putting them in a severe financial strain and facing foreclosure on their lot. The home they are renting is now being turned into an Air BNB so they have to find another place to live by the end of January. To make matters worse, this beautiful families struggles take a very unexpected path. Just a day prior to Thanksgiving this year, their beautiful 3year old daughter Brooklyn began to complain of a tummy ache. Her mother, after feeling a knot on her little belly; took her to her pediatrician. Who then advised them to go to the ER. Only to be sent immediately to Nemours in Orlando for further testing. On Friday December 1st 2023, came the diagnosis that no parent ever wants to hear; Cancer! Brooklyn was diagnosed Hepatoblastoma. Hepatoblastoma is a common type of liver tumor found in children. Brooklyn was not born with this nor can it be determined how long she’s had it. She will need to undergo at least 2 rounds of chemo in hopes to shrink the tumor prior to surgery that will remove the tumor. Then followed up with at least 4 chemo treatments after surgery. After following this beautiful family’s story with what happened to them in reference to the build of their home. I personally reached out to the Gonzalez family. The very first time I meet this family. I was greeted at the door by Brooklyn and her dad. Brooklyn was so excited, full of energy and so inquisitive. She is definitely a child that warms your heart and that you will never forget after you leave. This family that night found it in them to trust me with building their new home, only with what money they have left and was not taken by the previous builder. As I was leaving, Brooklyn ran up to me, gave me the biggest hug that a 3 year old could possibly ever give and said thank you for building my own room. It was in that exact moment that no matter what we were going to make this happen for them. With so many sub-contractors and suppliers donating so much of their time and material to make this happen for this family. They still need help with not only finding a new place to live as we build their home but with medical, travel and lodging expenses as they commute back and forth from PSL to Orlando for all of Brooklyns treatments. Both Mr. & Mrs. Gonzalez have also had to take alot of time off of work as well as which has resulted in a loss of wages. I have also began to take Christmas presents for the girls as well. Any help with any of the items above would be greatly appreciated to this family, during this difficult time. Anything great or small will help take some of this hardship and stress off of Mom & Dad so their full focus can be where it needs to be, on their family and of course Brooklyns recovery from this horrible disease that plagues so many unfortunate children, adults and families. #BrooklynStrong
