Brooks 500

On Tuesday 15th November 2022 Darren Brooks left the house as usual ready for his day as a Northwest field engineer at Utilita Energy. Little did we know that this would be the last time he would leave for the job he loved. Tragically, just a few hours later Darren passed away following a medical episode whilst driving.

The entire Utilita family was hit hard the day that Darren passed, and he has left a giant Darren shaped hole within the Northwest team.

Darren dedicated over three years to Utilita leaving a significant impact. He excelled as a team player, frequently guiding and mentoring new staff. The concept of fund raising by completing a parachute jump was initially discussed during a team meeting years ago and Darren was keen to be involved so we are committed to seeing this challenge through as a team in his memory.

Darren was a family man who loved going to the gym and keeping fit. He married the love of his life, Sarah, in the summer of 2022 and had all the excitement of newly married life ahead of him before his tragic passing.

Sarah and the Northwest team at Utilita would like to celebrate the amazing person Darren was and we have chosen to test our bravery and complete a solo parachute jump.

We really hope you can support us with proceeds raised going to the British heart foundation and to help raise as much money as possible to allow them to continue the fantastic work they do. Their research and medical breakthroughs really do save lives and hopefully will stop other families suffering the same heartache as Darren’s family.

The British Heart Foundation’s vision is a world free from the fear of heart and circulatory diseases. They raise money to research cures and treatments, so that they can give people more time with the ones they love.

Utilita field services would like you to be part of the Brooks 500. (Jump for Daz).

In June 2023 we raised thousands for Marie Curie and completed the Yorkshire three peaks.

In August 2024 a 12 man team which will captained by Sarah Brooks and will also include a selected nominated individual linked to us and join us in completing a solo parachute jump at sky dive Langar Nottingham. The 1st August will be our training day, and the 2nd August we will all be involved in completing a solo parachute jump in Memory of Daz and a charity who means a lot to us all on so many personal levels .
(The x1 addition to our team can be be transferred onto anyone who meets criteria ahead of August with the 12th person being added to the team at the end of June 2024). Proceeds after the jump will go to the British heart foundation

The BHF fund around £100 million of research each year into all heart and circulatory diseases and the things that cause them. Heart diseases. Stroke. Vascular dementia. Diabetes. They're all connected, and they're all under the BHF’s microscope.
Heart attacks that strike without warning, strokes that shatter futures, new-born babies born with broken hearts. These are just some of the cruelties of cardiovascular disease. And the brutal reality is, there is so much more for science to discover before we can beat the world’s biggest killers.
That’s why British Heart Foundation exists. Funding research is how they change the game. And we all have a role to play. The tools we have at our disposal today - from heart transplants and pacemakers to stents and portable defibrillators - are all down to research. Research made possible by people like you. But without you? It all stops tomorrow.
