Brooks's Surgical Expenses

Donation protected
Through my updates via Facebook, most of you know that our little man has to go through two surgeries within the next couple of months. The first is his cochlear implant. That is planned to be happening on June 10th. We are still waiting on approval through insurance. Sometimes it can take a while to approve an infant with just single-sided hearing loss, but since he is at high risk of losing his hearing in his right ear, he should hopefully be able to get approved with no problem. After he is healed from this procedure, he will have an operation on his left hip for dysplasia. Depending on how invasive the surgeon will have to be will depend on the time we'll have to take off. The surgeon will try to only cut through a tendon to try and loosen his hip to get it back into place, or she may need to open up the hip capsule and remove bone. She won't know until she gets in the OR. So I can only imagine it would be more painful if he has to have some bone removed. We are hoping that will not be the case but are preparing ourselves. He will be in a hip spica cast for three months. To follow that, a brace for three months. Then he will wear that same brace for naps and bedtime until he's three. We are embarrassed to be asking for help, but we honestly don't know what else to do. We want to make sure he can heal at home with us for a bit. I want to make sure he is entirely pain-free before heading back to daycare. We also want to know how to care for him with his cast before making his daycare provider do it. Family will always come first, we will do everything to make sure ours is taken care of. If admitting that we need help once in a while is what we have to do then that's what we have to do. We had so many people reach out when he was born and in the NICU we are forever grateful to so many people! We love you all and hope you can help in any way you're able. Even if it's reaching out to us to see how we are doing. That means the world to us. This has been such a hard time on Dalton and I. There is nothing worse than seeing your baby go through this. We just go through the motions of life and take it day by day.
