Brown Image Mural Fundraiser
Tax deductible
The unique history of Chicano Park includes cultural contributions from the community like the Brown Image Car Club. Partly funded by the contributions of Henry and Janine Rodriguez, the initiative aims to preserve the history of beginning of the park and the club's start during the 1970's.
A mural to memorialize one of San Diego's first car clubs, is to be painted by a talented group of artists, led by renowned muralist Victor Ochoa. Innovative painting techniques like using gold flake to mirror traditional lowrider paint jobs will be utilized and will be the largest flake paint job in history, a truly remarkable feat in itself. The history of Chicano Park will be archived for the public’s view, photographs documenting the architecture in Barrio Logan, and the park’s takeover will be on display for the community to derive a sense of pride for the history of the park and the cultural significance of lowriding. In addition, the archiving of historical photos, video documentation as well as the current photos of the mural’s process will be available for the preservation and viewing for the public in the future. Please contribute to this historical mural.
