Bruce Bergeron funeral arrangements

This is Bruce’s daughter, Nikki. My dad had triple bypass heart surgery on March 1st. The surgery was a success and things were going smoothly. Once his breathing tube was removed things took a devastating turn. He developed severe pneumonia and went into septic shock. He was transferred from St. John’s Hospital to the U of M hospital and immediately put on an ECMO machine. The hope was his lungs and heart would get a break and be able to heal from all this trauma. Sadly the pneumonia had completely damaged what little strength his lungs had left from the COPD and the doctors said they weren't working at all. Everything they did wasn't able to strengthen his lungs enough to take him off ECMO. Today, March 25th, a blood clot got into the ECMO machine and it stopped working which caused him to stop breathing. They couldn't fix it in time and he passed away peacefully. We all went into this with such high hopes and never imagined this outcome would happen. Our hearts are shattered as we now begin to plan another unexpected funeral for a parent.
