I'm Brent Hope and I'm fundraising for my big brother Bruce Hope. Over the past few years Bruce has faced many challenges. Like many businesses, the optical shop he owned was impacted by economic challenges and market changes. Bruce was also beginning to have physical issues making the physical work increasingly challenging. The closing of Hope Optical was a huge blow, and like so many people Bruce fell into a deep depression which together with diabetic neuropathy made day to day functioning a huge challenge. He has also been diagnosed with a mild cognitive disorder, further complicating the clinical picture. For over a year he's been in a nursing home in Ft. Wayne.

Luckily, as he's gotten the care he needs and is on an effective medication regimen, he has made great improvements from where he was. We are so grateful he has recently been approved for a program which will allow him to move from the nursing home to an assisted living facility!

As Bruce makes this transition, any donations can assist with initial rent and uncovered & unexpected costs until his social security can kick in. Any donation you can make to build the bridge Bruce needs to move to the next phase where he'll both be safe and able to get the most out of every day, including reconnecting with so many people he touched over the years, is very appreciated.
