Bruce Needs Surgery for a Tumor!

Our sweet boy Bruce is an 11 year old Pomeranian/Shi-Tzu mix who is the most lovable fluff you will ever meet!

A couple weeks ago Bruce had x-rays and we discovered a strange abdominal mass. After a follow-up visit to the doggy oncology specialist it turns out he needs surgery (ASAP) to remove a large tumor on his liver lobe. The doctor guesstimated it was about 8 inches long and is probably putting pressure on surrounding organs. Poor baby! As of yet, we are unsure if the tumor is benign or malignant but will know more after surgery. I thought the ultrasound for his diagnosis was expensive ($700) but it was nothing compared to the cost of the upcoming surgery he needs!

Bruce and I have been together his entire life and he’s my very best friend. I am so grateful that we discovered this condition before things escalated with his health. As we juggled the uncertainty of what needed to be done for his care, my anxiety has been at an all time high. I hate that my boy must endure the stress of surgery and recovery but I feel so fortunate that there is a medical solution, no matter the cost.

Were anticipating costs from $4,500 to $6,400 depending on anesthesia and the length of his stay. Bruce’s diagnosis and surgical expenses are very unexpected as he is otherwise, extremely healthy, agile and playful.
