Bruce Simpson and Family

Tax deductible
fundraiser organized by Josh LaRoe, Secretary, Vacaville City Firefighters Charity Fund
Below Written by family/friends of Bruce Simpson.

This Sunday, March 27th, our community suffered an unexpected and great loss of a friend, neighbor, and philanthropist. Before all else, Bruce was a beloved husband, father and grandfather whose pride was his family that filled his life and his heart with joy. It was from that full heart, that he was able to freely give to everyone around him, pouring into fundraisers for childhood cancer, fallen and injured officers and firefighters, Police K9 units, youth sports leagues, and dear to his heart, an annual Operation Santa program that he mobilized every Christmas Day for the last seven years. From the passenger’s seat of a patrol car and armed with donations of cash, gift cards, children’s gifts and household items that those in need appreciated the most. Bruce was truly an unexpected Christmas Miracle for those most in need.
As a Community Outreach Coordinator for both the Concord and Vacaville Police Officers Associations, Bruce’s mission was to build relationships between the dispatchers, firefighters and police officers in the communities they served through fundraising events and charity drives. As a former police officer and spouse of a career firefighter, Bruce was a staunch advocate and organizer for peer-support and wellness events catering specifically to the first responders and their families that Bruce loved, respected and called his own.
If asked, Bruce wouldn’t call himself a philanthropist. He wouldn’t want any credit or attention at all. He would simply say that he knew he was a truly loved and blessed man who found his heart’s calling in giving back to those around him.
This loss is as immense and leaves a hole that is just as big as Bruce’s big personality, his heartfelt smile, his telling grin and his generous heart. In support of his wife Mindy, his children and his grandchildren, this fundraiser has been established to help with the unexpected funeral and burial expenses.

*100% of all donations received will be provided to Mindy Simpson through the 501(c)(3) charitable organization: Vacaville City Firefighters Charity Fund. Thank you
