Bruce Palmer’s Cancer Fight
Donation protected
Bruce Palmer has had many titles over the years: Science teacher, naturalist, social justice warrior, climate change activist, trouble maker, class clown, mentor, kind-hearted man. Bruce was recognized as the 2009 Teacher of the Year by the Massachusetts Audubon Society . But one title dominates his life these days: cancer victim.
I first met Bruce when he was “Mr. Palmer” to me. He was my 7th-grade science teacher. That teacher you heard stories about.. His booming personality and passion for his teachings were infectious. He was a mentor, and his classrom was always a safe space to me and others. He showed me new ways to interact with and appreciate nature. This fundraiser is important to me because Bruce is truly a one of a kind human. For all he's given of himself to others, his students and this Earth, I believe it is our time to give back!
Bruce was first diagnosed with colon cancer in 2019. Multiple surgeries, debilitating chemo treatments, sleepless nights, and endless pain couldn’t keep him from the classroom. Even the pandemic couldn’t keep him from his students as he continued to teach remotely up until February 2021, when it became no longer physically possible for him to continue.
Bruce has devoted his life to his community; we hope that the community can now help Bruce. All funds raised will be used to defray Bruce’s medical treatment, home health aid, and hospice care. Any contribution or share is immensely appreciated.
