Update 10/24/23
The Brugaletta Family finally made it home from being at an acute spinal cord injury hospital for the last 6 months. They couldn’t have made it through the last 7 months without all the prayers, well wishes and support they received. Thank you to everyone who has donated, and reached out to the family to offer love and support. The Brugalettas are overwhelmed and grateful beyond measure.
Kevin is continuing rehab close to home and is determined to ride the train to recovery until it runs out of track

Update 4/11/23
San Francisco Police Sergeant Kevin Brugaletta was released from San Francisco General Hospital this morning and is transitioning to a long-term rehabilitation
facility for the next phase of his recovery. "Kevin has bravely made steady progress in his recovery and is looking forward to continuing his progress at a long-term rehabilitation facility," said Lt. Tracy McCray, SFPOA President. "The Brugaletta family will be forever grateful for the excellent care Kevin received from the medical professionals at San Francisco General, the unwavering support they've received from the San Francisco Police Department family, and the love and generosity of their friends and the community as a whole." Fellow San Francisco police officers participated in a procession from the hospital to salute Kevin as he begins the next phase of his journey to recovery. "Please continue to pray for Kevin and keep him in your thoughts," McCray stated. "Kevin has a long road to recovery, and there will be many trying months ahead for him, his wife, and the rest of their family. Over the last several weeks, Kevin's proven he's a fighter, and we know his recovery will be successful if we all stay in his corner."
To continue to preserve their privacy, the family is not releasing the name of the rehabilitation facility or the rehabilitation care plan. The Brugaletta family appreciates the community's interest in Kevin's health, and they appreciate the privacy afforded to them during this traumatic time. The SFPOA will release additional status reports on Kevin's recovery at the request of the Brugaletta family when they deem it appropriate. The rehabilitation process for Kevin will be long, intense, and costly. For those who want to continue to support the family, you can donate to their GoFundMe campaign, which will help the family cover expenses such as out-of-pocket medical costs, travel, lodging, and childcare, among other costs.
We'll continue to keep this page updated with Kevin's progress. Thank you again for all the love, generosity, support and most importantly, prayers.

Update 4/4/23
The Brugaletta’s are overwhelmed with the kindness and generosity of their community. At this moment there are no additional updates as Kevin remains in the ICU with many unknowns. We hope to update you soon with more details. Please continue to pray for Kevin and Britt and their family as they continue to navigate each day during this difficult time.
Thank you!

Update 3/25
The Brugaletta family is overwhelmed by the support, generosity, and love they have received in the days since the incident. Words cannot express the gratitude they have felt during these difficult times.
Kevin remains in critical condition. We will continue to provide updates as they come up.
Please continue to pray for Kevin and send him warm and positive thoughts as he continues to fight daily. Now is the time for us to shine our brightest during this dark hour.
_______
As many of you know, Kevin was in a tragic accident during the wind and rain storm on Tuesday, 3/21, and a massive tree fell and crushed his car. Kevin was extricated from his vehicle, rushed to ICU @ SF General, and remains in stable condition but with serious injuries. Brittany, family, and friends have been by Kevin's side, providing as much as possible the past few days, but as you can imagine, this is a tough time, and things change hour by hour and day by day as Kevin continues to heal and progress in the ICU.
There are many unknowns right now, and as we look forward, Brittany and Kevin will need a lot of help as they adjust to their new normal. They are expecting their second baby girl in just a few short weeks, and to ensure Brittany can continue to help support and be by Kevin's side, we're starting a GoFundMe to help raise money for child care for Aila, support for Brittany postpartum and any other incremental out-of-pocket expenses they will incur over the coming months.
Brittany and Kevin have a long road ahead of them, and they appreciate all the love, support, and prayers. Please keep them coming.
