Bryzon's Spinal Cord Injury Recovery
Donation protected
Hey everyone! We are asking for your amazing support and fundraising efforts once again!!!
Here's a very brief synopsis for those of you unfamiliar with Bryzon's story: On July 12, 2019, Bryzon sustained a C5 incomplete spinal cord injury resulting in quadriplegia after a diving accident while on a family vacation in Bemidji.
It's crazy to think it has been a little over a year and half since Bryzon's diving accident. This time has been full of ups and downs and has presented many new challenges, both physically and mentally. Bryzon continues to work hard during therapy and has made remarkable progress. He has a wonderful PT who comes up with creative treatment, adapts as needed, and motivates him to be better each day. Yet, even with hard work, dedication, encouragement and creativity, progress comes at a much slower rate this long after the injury, which creates another set of challenges and frustrations.
Bryzon is so appreciative for the function he has gained, but he has bigger plans. His dream is to be able to walk again, not rely on a caregiver 24/7 and live on his own one day. His dream is to be independent and to remove the barrier of accessibility. His dream is to not be so limited in what he can and can’t do and where he can go or can’t go. His dream is to be able to go to a friend’s house, store or get together without worrying about whether or not he can access it with his wheelchair….It’s interesting how one person's life dream is the daily "norm" that so many of us take for granted. Another reminder to be grateful for the little things!
So, we went to work searching for ways to help him achieve these dreams. After reaching out to several Spinal Cord Injury Support Groups, lots of our own research and consultation with medical professionals, we have decided to move forward with regenerative treatment and are requesting your help to raise $10,000 for this treatment, as it is not covered by his insurance.
What is regenerative treatment? I'm so glad you asked! In short (very short), regenerative treatment uses the patient’s own stem cells to heal and regenerate damaged tissue. In Bryzon's case, this would be used to repair the spinal cord damage and create new connections to improve motor function and sensation. We have consulted with a certified clinic out of MN to provide these services, and they believe Bryzon is an excellent candidate for this type of therapy. The success stories for individuals who have completed treatment at this place are mind-blowing!
The possibility of receiving this treatment has helped restore Bryzon’s hope. Please help us make this dream a reality! ANYTHING helps! Thanks so much in advance. We cannot state our appreciation enough!
