Study Abroad Scholarship
If you know me, then you know that I studied abroad extensively as a college student. I was fortunate enough to have a scholarship that sent me to Mexico, Greece, Japan, and South Africa and generous family members who sent me to Costa Rica.
If you know me, then you know that these experiences changed my life.
Study abroad offers students the chance to really live in and understand different cultures - they leave a country better than when they arrived.
However, without the financial support I had, I never would have been able to see such amazing places and meet such amazing people. As a teacher, I want to be able to give to students as I was given to.
This summer, I am traveling to Costa Rica as part of the University System of Georgia Study Abroad Consortium - developed specifically to provide the opportunity for community college students to study abroad.
However, at Bainbridge State College, we have the poorest 2% of students in the nation and most of them work full-time in addition to going to school. For the majority of them, the cost of study abroad prohibits them from getting out of southern Georgia and seeing the world.
Please help me to help a Bainbridge State College student study abroad in Costa Rica for one month this summer. The program includes a homestay, two college classes, and many other enriching opportunities.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
