PDX Paramedic Vehicle-Flood Fund
Donation protected
On 12-7-15 during a record setting rainfall a series of drainage points became clogged with debris. This caused flooding in the street that backed up into the parking lot of our local Multnomah County Paramedics operations HQ. These medics who were at work in their ambulances around the city and had no idea their cars were flooding. The Fire Department came and helped pump water out, but the damage was done. Several vehicles are totaled putting the burden on their families right at Christmas. Help us raise funds so that these kind and generous people can provide a Christmas for their families, ensure their transportation needs are met and don't have to shoulder this burden alone.
*Gofundme has asked me to provide more information on this page. Here goes.
1. Who you are: I am Josh Prull, a Paramedic in Portland who works in this location with the affected individuals. I was parked in this lot and my shift ended a few hours prior to this event. I was able to leave and my own vehicle escaped any harm.
2. Where you're from: Portland
3. Your relationship to the parties you're raising funds for: They are my peers, friends, and fellow Paramedics. We are working on tallying the exact number of vehicles and damage done.
4. How the funds will be spent (be specific as possible): The money will be split between everyone involved based on damages done and need. Many are out just deductible amounts, others may have lost the full value of their vehicle. This is not designed to replace lost vehicles but to bridge the financial gap between now and getting a new ride, hopefully while supporting their Christmas needs.
5. How you intend to get the funds to those in need: I am not the beneficiary. A trusted employee besides myself has control of the money and a committee is forming to plan distribution of money to those affected. I hope this helps!
*Please note that Multnomah County EMS is a governing body separate from our operation. Please contact Josh Prull through this pages contact form. if you have any questions or media inquiries. *Please note that initial reports indicated a city water pump had failed causing this. This does not appear to be the case, rather, storm debris backing up otherwise functioning drainage systems is the culprit.
