Byron’s Medical Expenses

This fundraiser is being created on behalf of Byron Bolanos
On January 30, 2021 Byron Bolanos was diagnosed with COVID 19. He tried battling it at home but on February 1, 2021 was admitted to Ochsner Health Shreveport. When he arrived at the ER his Oxygen level was 79%. He was placed on supplemental oxygen and admitted to the ICU. Doctors started him on the common COVID protocols and even some experimental ones. Unfortunately, he declined and was placed on a ventilator on February 5, 2021. On February 13th, the medical team made the decision to place him on ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation), a machine that replaces the function of the heart and lungs.
Byron Bolanos is a Registered Respiratory Therapist, and has been my co worker for the 22 years he has worked for LSU Health, now Ochsner. He is a loyal and hard worker, and has been on the front lines taking care of COVID patients, fighting this awful virus since the very beginning of the pandemic. He goes above and beyond for his patients, never misses a day of work, and even picks up extra shifts when our department is in a bind.
In March of 2020, we were faced with a pandemic that we all thought was going to be short lived. Never did we, his work family, ever imagine that one of our own would be so sick with COVID and require ICU and ECMO. But, as we all quickly learned, this horrible virus is very unpredictable!
Byron is the father of two daughters, Chloe’ and Faith, and is engaged to be married to Ragan this fall.
Byron’s future is uncertain and he requires the best of care. Even with insurance, medical bills can be overwhelming. If you are able to support Byron in any capacity in his time of need it would be greatly appreciated.
